I am an art collector. I love Cuban contemporary art, of which I have many pieces. Cuban art is very diverse and ample. It has a rich history of artistic creativity, one that melds elements of Spanish, African, South American, and European cultures. Cuba has the oldest academy of art in Latin America, the Academy of San Alejandro, which opened in 1818. All the art movements of the 19th and 20th centuries found a home in Cuban artists.
